Police in Scarborough are investigating the sudden and unexplained death of a man at Peasholm Park.

Emergency services were called to a wooded area off Manor Road at 8.53pm yesterday (Wednesday 26th October).

The man was found collapsed by members of the public who gave him CPR.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance but died.

The man is aged in his mid-30s and lives locally. His family have been informed and are being supported by the police.

Due to the darkness, the nearby area was cordoned off by the police overnight to allow a day-time search to be conducted. The scene was clear by 9.45am today (Thursday).

Officers say while there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances, the death is still being treated as unexplained.

They are compiling a report for the coroner as enquiries continue.

They are appealing for witnesses and information that could assist the sudden death investigation.
