Police suspect 200 tonnes of straw bales deliberately set alight near Wold Newton
Farmers are being urged to be vigilant
People in farming and rural communities in the East Riding of Yorkshire are being urged to remain vigilant.
Humberside Police say approximately 200 tonnes of straw bales were set alight near Wold Newton, between Bridlington and Scarborough.
Officers are suspecting deliberate ignition.
In a statement, Humberside Police added: 'These incidents not only involve great risk to landowners, farmers and fire & rescue services who attend, but also result in huge financial impact.
'Please report any suspicious activity to police on 999 for any incidents in progress or 101 for non emergency incidents.'
