The South Bay Sparkle in Scarborough for Christmas 2020 has raised £3,849 for three charities.

It involved putting on a lightshow of more than 25 yachts in the harbour.

Saint Catherine's, The Rainbow Centre and Scarborough Sea Cadets will now get an equal share of the money.

The display was organised by Scarborough Yacht Club (SYC) & South Bay Traders (SBTA), with Rudi Barman and John Senior, Heath Samples, James Corrigan and Guy Smith taking the lead.

People were asked to donate money through their Just Giving page.

At the same time, SYC organised a children's competition to take the best photographs of themselves and the yacht lightshow, and the organisers say it was noticeable how many visitors came up to do just this.

There were three prizes for this, and the winners are:

1st Prize: £100 won by Alexia Barnes, age 16.

2nd Prize: £50 won by Samvith Ram Vignesh age 9.

Third Prize: £25 won by Amy Casson age 15
