Six New Coronavirus Cases in Scarborough
However, that does bring down the 7-day average for the borough.
A further six new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Scarborough borough yesterday.
Figures released last night show that in the last seven days 32 cases were recorded throughout the borough.
These new cases bring the borough’s total, since the start of the pandemic, to 651.
The data includes tests carried out in hospitals and also Pillar 2 tests, which is anyone tested at one of the mobile sites in the borough or sent a test to take at home.
The new cases have seen Scarborough borough’s seven-day infection rate decrease from its recent high of 6.6 a week ago to 4.6 .
According to data released for the week between September 4 and 10 the majority of the new cases were recorded in the north of the borough.
Eleven were recorded in an around the centre of Whitby, with a further eight in the Burniston, Sleights and Fylingdales ward.
Seven cases were recorded in Newby and Scalby, just north of Scarborough, with three in Filey and Hunmanby to the south.
Meanwhile, the mobile coronavirus testing service will be back in Scarborough and Whitby again this week, for anyone showing symptoms to get tested.
The drive-through facility will set up at the Seamer Road park and ride site in Scarborough tomorrow.
On Thursday it will be at Whitby’s park and ride facility, on Guisborough Road.
It is being organised by the Department of Health and Social Care which has warned people to not just turn up but make an appointment first.
There are two ways to do this depending on which testing group you are part of.
Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
Key workers and members of their household should register for a test on the government website.
Tests can be booked at www.gov.uk/apply-coronavirus-test-essential-workers from 8pm tonight for the Scarborough site and from 8pm tomorrow for Whitby.
