Scarborough has seen six more confirmed coronavirus cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

The new cases bring the area’s total since the start of the pandemic to 683.

The data includes tests carried out in hospitals and also Pillar 2 tests, which is anyone tested at one of the mobile sites in the borough or sent a test to take at home.

The borough’s seven day rolling average of cases has also started to drop. It now stands at 3.9 per day down from 7.7 at its peak last week.

Meanwhile, the drive-through coronavirus testing centre will be in Scarborough tomorrow at the Seamer Road park and ride site.

It will then make another stop at Whitby’s park and rite site on Thursday.

The testing has been organised by the Department of Health and Social Care which has warned people to not just turn up but make an appointment first.

There are two ways to do this depending on which testing group you are part of.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.

Key workers and members of their household should register for a test on the government website.

Tests can be booked at www.gov.uk/apply-coronavirus-test-essential-workers.
