More hosts needed in Scarborough for Ukrainian refugees
We're told there's a big shortage in the area.
There's a desperate need for more sponsors in Scarborough for Ukrainian refugees.
That's from the co-ordinator of the area's Sunflower Appeal, which tries to match hosts to guests.
Iain Butterworth says between 15 and 20 Ukrainians are contacting him every day, looking for somewhere to stay.
He says it's because people now think the accommodation situation is now sorted out, when in fact it isn't.
Iain says it's a dire situation everywhere:
"People are still stuck in Ukraine, trying to get out and trying to find sponsors. They won't move until they've got a firm sponsor. The camps on the borders of Poland and the other adjacent countries are literally over-flowing. Very clearly, the mis-match between guests and sponsors is huge.
"It's so sad to see, because you're seeing online photographs of these families and they're saying what their ages are, what their occupations are, what their relationship is with everybody. It really is heartbreaking to see that people have to resort to these measures to find somewhere safe to go to."
