Drivers are being told to find an alternative route

Drivers on the A169 near Whitby are being told to find an alternative route after a serious crash.

Police say the road between Saltersgate Bank and Goathland turn off is closed and a local diversion is in place.

Officers are asking lorry drivers to avoid the area though.
