Big local football derby as Scarborough Athletic face Whitby Town
The match kicks off at the Flamingo Land Stadium at 7.30pm tonight (Tuesday)
Two fierce rivals meet at Scarborough's Flamingo Land Stadium tonight (Tuesday) as Scarborough Athletic take on Whitby Town in a big local derby.
It's the first time the teams have faced each other this season, with last season's two encounters ending in a win for each.
Six hundred lucky supporters have tickets for this evening's clash, which kicks off at 7.30pm.
It's one of the first matches on the Yorkshire Coast to allow some fans into the ground since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.
The game is a sell-out, but anyone who didn't get a ticket can watch a special pay-per-view livestream.
Supporters who have tickets for the match are being reminded to comply with all the Covid-19 restrictions, which will be clearly displayed at the stadium.
Whitby Town manager Lee Bullock said:
"It's the biggest game on the calendar that our supporters instantly look for.
"Having our game called off last weekend with Hyde has enabled us to go into this game with a fully fit squad.
"We've got the better record at our place, and Scarborough have come out on top in the away games. This is something we're looking to change, we want to be the first team to bring three points back in the league."
Scarborough Athletic's chairman Trevor Bull said:
"It's like any other local derby, there's always a great rivalry. We have players that have played for both clubs involved, so I think it's fair to say that the players, the staff and the supporters will be really up for the game tonight.
"We're allowed to have six hundred fans into the ground, it's a shame we can't have any more, because a fixture like this we would be expecting to have anything up to 2,000 people there on a normal occasion, but one of the things we've done is set up a live streaming on a pay-per-view channel."
