Fire crews have found a man unconscious in a flat in Scarborough, thought to be due to smoke inhalation.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called to the scene at 2.38am this morning (13th October), after being contacted by neighbours who heard a smoke alarm going off.

On arrival at the flat, they found cooking left unattended, which activated smoke alarms.

Upon further investigation, crews found the male occupant unconscious, believed to be due to smoke inhalation.
