Teenager sexually assaulted by man in Scarborough

Police are appealing for information following the incident

A teenage girl has been sexually assaulted by a man in Scarborough.

It happened on Easter Bank Holiday Monday (18th April) on Foreshore Road outside Gilly's Amusement's between 3.30pm and 4pm. The man was detained by members of the public.

Police are appealing to anyone who was there at the time and saw the incident to come forward along with anyone who has CCTV covering the area.

Officers say the area was likely to be busy at the time with it being a bank holiday and the incident may have attracted onlookers who could have heard or seen the incident or the aftermath.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the time and has been released on conditional police bail.
