New community hub at Scarborough South Cliff
It's thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund
Scarborough's South Cliff has got its new community hub.
It has been unveiled thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
It will mean more people coming to the area and groups being able to meet at 'The Hive'
Adrian Perry, one of the founders of Friends of South Cliff Gardens, said: "There are some fantastic groups around and something like this will facilitate meetings where they can get together. I think it's a very important part of South Cliff because with the closure of the Methodist Church that was very well used but now we've got our own centre.
"We even have an outdoor classroom for kids to come along, learn about nature and the gardens. We have a poly tunnel where we can actually have them planting seeds, germinating seeds, getting to love gardens and gardening as well.
"We've managed to link the garden together because previously the South Cliff lift actually divided the gardens in two and now, we've opened up the old tunnel and you can actually walk over the Spa bridge and you can walk right the way through to Holbeck."
