Scarborough Sixth Form College says the results surpass national figures
Students at Scarborough Sixth Form College are celebrating after receiving their very first T-Level in Education and Childcare results.
S6F says it will enable them to progress onto their next steps and they were the first on the Yorkshire Coast to be approved to offer and deliver T-Levels, the new Government-led technical qualification.
The College says all students have positive destinations with 77% progressing to higher education at universities from Plymouth to Newcastle and Liverpool to Scarborough to study degrees in social work, primary teaching, childhood studies and special educational needs, with a further 23% securing employment.
Two students, Emily Batty and Eleanor Denton, have secured places at Norland College in Bath where they will train to become nannies to celebrities, royals and the rich and famous.
Tracey Herridge, teacher of the T-Level in Education and Childcare at Scarborough Sixth Form College said: “We’re absolutely delighted to see our very first T Level students receiving their results, having worked so hard through what has been the most challenging of times, not only with a brand-new qualification but during a global pandemic. It has been a huge privilege to have shared this 2-year journey with them and we wish them the very best of luck. We look forward to watching them take their next steps as they progress onto their future careers”.
Phil Rumsey, Principal at Scarborough Sixth Form College, said: “Our T Level in Education and Childcare students have achieved some fantastic results, having exceeded the national figures. This is attributed to the hard work, dedication and commitment of the students and our staff who have worked with great focus and energy to enable and support our students to do their best through the significant disruption over the last two years”.
The College’s T-Level students achieved 70% high grades (Distinction*/Distinction) against a national figure of 40.2% with a 100% pass rate compared to the national figure of 93.3%.
