The director of Scarborough's Samaritans charity shop appeals for more volunteers to help out there
The charity shop on Hanover road could open back up next month
There's a call for more people to volunteer at Scarborough's Samaritans charity shop.
The store on Hanover road could possibly re-open next month, after closing in December last year due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Libby Lorton-Gilbert is the director there; She's been telling us more about their plans:
"We'll hopefully be getting ready to re-open again towards the end of April or beginning of May, and we'd really love it if we could find some more volunteers to help out in the shop, so that we can open up on more days during the week.
"Before we closed in December last year, we were just about managing to open two or three times or week, so it would be really great if we could do more than that.
"If anybody is willing to help out for a few hours a week, that would be really appreciated."
She went on to describe what the role would normally involve:
"We obviously have all our donations to sort through, the window will need dressing differently every so often, customers will need serving, and the donations will need rotating from time to time.
"Our shop is another form of outreach for us, so it's a good point of contact for the local community.
"Hopefully, people may feel less lonely if they pop in."
The charity aims to provide support to people across the borough who're struggling emotionally.
