The Rainbow Centre in Scarborough say they are 'so grateful' for the donations to help Afghan families in the town.

92, including 64 children, are staying in the town temporarily.

Earlier, the homeless charity put out an appeal for essential items like baby clothes, nappies, wipes and toiletries.

But, they have now issued an update thanking everyone for the donations and to temporarily stop sending in the items as they have been overwhelmed. They say they will keep their Facebook page updated on specific items they still need, which includes:

  • Teenage clothes and underwear.
  • Women's clothes and underwear.

Anyone who can help is asked to drop them off at its base on Castle Road or to Eastfield Medical Centre.
