A number of mums have been talking about their experiences after having a lockdown babies at Scarborough Hospital.

Today marks six months since lockdown began.

Sophie Adams, 28, gave birth to Polly on 6 April. She said:

"Everything was fine and I think it was nowhere near as bad as you kind of anticipate.

I got myself thinking and expecting the worst and actually everybody at the hospital were fantastic, I couldn't fault anything or anyone.

She was about four or five weeks old before anyone got to meet her.

Family came and saw her through the patio doors or through car windows.

But she was about six weeks old before she started properly meeting people who never met her because of lockdown.

Polly's just getting to that point where she's getting her own little personality. She's sittng up, she's paying attention and she's grabbing at everything.

She's laughing and smiling and she's just constantly happy."

Susanne Mayes, 34, gave birth to Ella Hayley on the 28th of April and said:

"It's hard because she's only met four people that she's physically touched, not just seen frm a distance.

My parents have seen her from a distance; can't touch her, can't go near her, can't go for a hug or take photos like you'd normally would. These normal things.

Not being able to do things lke join normal clubs and things for new mums and tots like swimming, yoga, that kind of stuff you'd normally do with a baby.

You'd make friends with other mums and that's been quite a struggle."

Charlotte Pierson, 26, from Malton gave birth to Freddie at Scarborough Hospital on 16th of June. She said:

"I actually ended up having an emergency c-section in the end which again, is quite a serious thing to be doing anyway; and then when you're in lockdown and you can't get a lot of help espeically at the hospital like the midwives are doing the best they possible can but they're limited to what they can do and you're on your own.

Freddie is so cute and he's funny. You can't describe him he's adorable and he's one of a kind. He's an absolutely monkey some days but I wouldn't change him for the world."
