Borough of Scarborough Mayor's grand charity ball to return
It's back at Scarborough Spa in March after a delay of two years
The Borough of Sarborough Mayor's grand charity ball is making a return this year after a delay of two years.
It will take place at Scarborough Spa on the evening of Friday 11th March.
Jointly hosted by current Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Eric Broadbent and Mrs Lynne Broadbent, and former Mayor and Consort (2019 to 2021), Councillor Hazel Lynskey and Mr Mike Lynskey, the event, themed ‘Let’s Dance’, is set to put the sparkle back into socialising and the fun back into fundraising.
Special guest will be The Yorkshire Auctioneer, Angus Ashworth. Angus and his team from Ryedale Auctioneers feature in the Really channel documentary series, The Yorkshire Auction House. Angus is also a regular expert on Antiques Road Trip.
Angus will bring his gavel down during a charity auction and entertain guests with humorous tales and fascinating facts from the worlds of antiques and television.
There will also be a grand prize draw and live band to dance to until midnight.
Talented catering and music students from Scarborough TEC will be given an opportunity to gain valuable experience of a high profile event. The young people will work with the Spa’s teams to cater for and entertain guests.
The Mayor and former Mayor also want to use the event as an opportunity to invite and thank those who have cared for the ill and vulnerable during the coronavirus pandemic and worked to keep the borough moving.
All money raised from the evening will go to the Mayoress’ Community Fund, which benefits local groups and organisations throughout the borough.
Tickets for the ball, which include a welcome drink and canapés, three course meal with wine and all entertainment, are £40 per person.
Groups of ten can purchase tickets to sit together at a discounted price of £35 per person.
The event will start at 7pm and draw to a close at midnight. It will take place in the Spa’s Ocean Room.

Guests at the ball will be able to place bids with The Yorkshire Auctioneer for the following items and experiences:
• bespoke necklace by Rosh Jewellers
• overnight stay for two including breakfast at The Farrier, Cayton¹
• six bottles of Chateau Musar 1998 from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon
• bottle of Filey Bay whisky signed by Rishi Sunak/Boris Johnson
Grand draw prizes include a Whitby Jet necklace donated by the Mayor of Whitby, two tickets for any Yorkshire game at Scarborough cricket ground with hospitality, theatre and train tickets, gym vouchers and artwork.
The ball is supported by the Rotary Club of Scarborough and sponsored by Anglo American, McCain Foods, Transpennine Express, Broadland Properties and Booker.
