A man from Scarborough remains under investigation after the death of a woman on a road last month.

It happened on the A64 near the B1261 Cayton Low Lane at around 12.20am on Thursday 27th August, when the ambulance service reported the death.

Police have issued an update on two men who were arrested in connection with the incident.

A 29-year-old local man, who was initially arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, has been released and will not face any further action.

A 47-year-old Scarborough man remains under investigation after he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a road traffic collision.

Officers are still appealing for witnesses and information about the incident.
