Scarborough RNLI had two call-outs over the past few days.

On Friday afternoon, the all-weather lifeboat was asked to help rescue someone who had been cut off by the tide, just north of Filey Brigg.

The lifeboat, with a crew of six, stood by, close to shore, in a moderate to rough sea and a force-8 south-easterly wind. The casualty was winched to safety by the coastguard helicopter.

Then at 4.30am on Saturday, the inshore lifeboat launched to look for a person reported to be in the sea.

The crew of three searched the area between the lifeboathouse and Aquarium Top.

The lifeboat was stood down when the person was located by the coastguards.

Scarborough RNLI say if anyone sees someone injured or in distress on the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
