Scarborough’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people now stands at 50, up three on yesterday.
It now means that the borough, along with Selby, has the highest rate of anywhere in the county, almost five times of that in Harrogate, which currently has North Yorkshire’s lowest figure.
The borough’s rate remains is now close to double the average for North Yorkshire and also stands above the average for England as whole.
One month ago Scarborough’s infection rate had dropped as low as 20 when it had the lowest figures in the county but has climbed steadily ever since.
Yesterday, it was also confirmed that the number of Covid-19 patients in Scarborough Hospital had continued to rise with 12 people now in beds on the site, an increase of four on last week.
