Scarborough’s infection rate has fallen once again as the town’s hospital once again has no Covid-19 patients on its wards.

The borough’s infection rate per 100,000 has dropped back to 11 after rising to 13 yesterday.
It has also been confirmed today that the number of patients in hospitals across North Yorkshire has fallen to 18, with none left in Scarborough.
With lockdown restrictions due to be eased further from Monday residents have been encouraged to take the Covid-19 vaccine when it is offered to them.
Amanda Bloor, accountable officer for North Yorkshire NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
“GP practices are reaching out to individuals who have not come forward to encourage them to take up the offer of a vaccination.
“However ,it is important to note that it is not a mandatory vaccine so there will be some individuals who do not come forward. We work to ensure that everyone has all the information they need so that they can make an informed decision.”
North Yorkshire’s director of Public Health, Louise Wallace, has also called on people to continue to be mindful of the virus as they start to socialise in greater numbers,
She said:
“It’s positive that we are seeing low infection rates in the county, and no doubt we are all rightly looking forward to the further relaxation of restrictions.
“The chance to see family and friends in our own homes and to seize more opportunities to socialise and to enjoy entertainment is welcome as summer beckons. But we must not become complacent. Please continue to be careful and cautious.
“We have come such a long way since the peak of cases over the winter and the effort of everybody in keeping our friends, families and communities safe from the virus has made a difference.
“As we continue to move along the road map, getting vaccinated is an essential part of this. Please do take up your opportunity to be vaccinated when it is your turn, and please do get both doses.
“Continue to be considerate and do the right thing by looking after yourself and by practising hands, face, space and letting in fresh air.”
Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
