'Green Christmas Fair' to come to Scarborough tomorrow
Coast and Vale Community Action has organised a fair at The Street
A 'Green Christmas Fair' is coming to Scarborough tomorrow.
People are being asked to celebrate the festive period by thinking about buying local, ethically-sourced, recyclable and recycled items.
Coast and Vale Community Action has organised a fair with stalls selling products that is good for the environment.
It takes place tomorrow (Friday 17th December) from 12pm until 4pm at The Street on Lower Clark Street in Scarborough.
David Stone, who is from CaVCA, said:
"We want things to be sold here that are locally made or produced and ethically sourced and that sort of thing. It's basically to help people buy things that will help the climate, nature, the environment and the local community.
"We've got a whole load of different things; we've got food and drinks, arts and crafts, perfumes, skincare, pet treats, bric-a-brac, candles and incense, clothes and we have entertainment and a tombola.
"You can have a great Christmas and also think a bit more carefully about the things that you buy and the impact that that has. We're not lecturing anyone, we do believe it's Christmas and that's a time to have fun and to be together with your friends and family but in the coming years, do think that little bit more carefully about your purchasing decisions.
"We're also having a toy swap which doesn't involve money at all. We're just asking people to bring in any good quality and still working toys that they might have at home, bring them along, see what else is there and basically just swap things."
