Scarborough Covid rate drops to lowest level since October

Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate has dropped to its lowest level since early October.

The borough’s seven day infection rate per 100,000 people has fallen to 80 its lowest level since October 8.

It is a drop of 20 on this time last week.

Scarborough is now averaging 12 new cases every day.

The average infection rate for England stands at 148 while in North Yorkshire it is now 101. Both of these are sharp drops from seven days ago.

The number of people who have died in the borough within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 has increased by five in the last week to 191.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week for anyone with symptoms to get tested.

William Street Coach Park in Scarborough is still offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.
