A couple in Scarborough are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary today.

Martin and Katy Dove first met at a pub in South Kesington in London on the 25th of May 1970.

They got married later that year on October 3rd.

Martin was born in Scarborough, so they moved to the town to settle down and 50 years later, they are still together.

He said:

"I thought well she's cute, she's the one and I went to her a little bit tipsy, and I said "hey, did you know it's Bob Dylan's birthday today?" That was my chat up line."

Katy said:

"I've never really liked Bob Dylan, so I wasn't really impressed with the chat up line."

She added:

"He kept borrowing my velvet loon pants because they were the thing at the time. We were very 60s and we were both a bit hippy-ish.

I wore velvet loon pants and he borrowed mine."

The couple have also revealed their secrets to a long marriage.

Martin said:

"Time flies when you have fun together. That's the secret, you just have fun together, make each other laugh all the time and surprise each other."

Katy said:

"Music. He was into Bob Dylan and I was into Donovan. We used to always play lots and lots of music and you've got to be able to laugh."

Martin and Katy have a son called Robert, named after Bob Dylan.
