The Leader of Scarborough Borough Council says we need to do whatever it takes to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Steve Siddons has given his view on new restrictions on the hospitality sector.

It's after rules were introduced last week forcing pubs, bars and restaurants to close earlier.

Steve said:

"The night time economy is important to the borough and Scarborough in particular, but it's part of the problem as well.

So we've got to make sure that where people are gathering, that they are behaving responsibly; and unfortunately for a small number of people, maybe they don't behave responsibly.

If you don't then we will end up in a similar situation that other parts of the country are in; which is not going to do businesses any good, it's not going to do the health of the population any good and we're going to have more deaths on our hands and none of us want that."
