Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate continues to climb, as it rises above the North Yorkshire average.

The borough’s seven-day infection rate, per 100,000 people, is up to 48, a rise of three on yesterday.

On March 9, the borough’s rate dropped to 20, but has been moving up steadily throughout the month.

Scarborough’s rate is now above the North Yorkshire average, 44, and just eight behind the average for England.

Selby remains the only district in North Yorkshire with a higher infection rate than Scarborough.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week, for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
