Scarborough's Coronavirus rate rises
The borough's seven-day infection rate is now higher than the national average.
Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate has risen slightly once again.
The borough’s seven-day infection rate, per 100,000 people, now stands at 25, up four on yesterday.
It means that the rate has crept back above the national average for England, which has fallen to 24.
Yesterday, residents were told that infection rates were likely to fluctuate as the cases numbers dropped.
North Yorkshire County Council’s director of Health and Adult Services, Richard Webb, said:
“As you will see from the figures there is quite a lot of fluctuation they are changing quite a bit from day to day, partly because the numbers are much smaller so any increase in cases begin to almost have a disproportionate impact.”
Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend, for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
