Scarborough climate activist 'very worried' for the future
It's as the US President Joe Biden held talks earlier with the Prime Minister and King Charles
A climate activist in Scarborough says the hope is with young people in tackling climate change.
It is as US President Joe Biden held talks earlier with the Prime Minister as well as King Charles about the issue.
Dave Mason said: "Personally I'm very worried. Not just for the UK but for the whole planet really. I know that sounds a bit exaggerated but it's a whole planet thing; species are lost, habitats are being lost, wildfires and floods, it's all happening. There are clear signs of worse to come.
"I think there are hopeful signs in some directions but overall I think the picture is very bleak. There's a lot of talk and a lot of promises. We've had 27 COP conferences and we're not a lot further forward than when they started. We just don't seem to be making progress.
"I get around on a bike and on public transport. These are things that a lot of people are doing but added up they don't really make much impact. Looking at Scarborough, I think for example, we're on the coast so there's a chance there for tidal power. I know it's complicated and expensive but it has been done.
"I'm a granddad and I worry how things will be in 10, 20, 50 years, if we make it to 50 years. I think young people a lot of them are engaged. They're worried because of course this is their future and they give me hope."
