Scarborough care boss calls for patience over care home visits
It is hoped families of care home residents in Scarborough Borough can move a step closer to visiting loved ones again due to the vaccinations.
It is hoped there is light at the end of the tunnel for families of care home residents in the Borough of Scarborough.
The Government says it has now offered a coronavirus vaccine to residents at every eligible care home in England.
Mike Padgham is the Chair of North Yorkshire's Independent Care Group and runs Saint Cecilia's in Scarborough.
He said:
"It's been difficult in all care homes and there have been outbreaks in care homes in Scarborough like everywhere else. I think the difficulty comes is of course you want visitors and normality to get back eventually and tourism and the economy. I suppose the infection rates have gone down because it's a national lockdown.
"My biggest fear is when we come out of the lockdown and we get back to easing restrictions, we've got to make sure that people respect the tiers. No travelling from a higher tier to a lower tier and then coming to Scarborough. Of course we want visitors, but at the right time.
"I'm just worried if we don't get it right with the lockdown, we could have a third spike, so that's why I'm being cautious. It's great news Scarborough's figures are very low now, but we've got to keep them that way."
