A boy from Scarborough has the chance to join the England Kickboxing team.

11-year-old Harry Kirkley got silver at the end of last month in Birmingham at the ICO Kickboxing championships.

He and his friends now have the chance to go to the world championships in Hungary and has the chance to join the England team if they get the funding for training and kit etc.

Harry's mum, Lauren, said: "Harry started kickboxing just before Covid hit so got involved with the classes via Zoom. As soon as the Dojo was allowed to open up Harry was there!

"He has now competed in three national competitions and managed a gold, a silver and a bronze. Some of his team mates from Desapline have also qualified for the ICO England team and each one of them has to raise money to cover the costs to go as it is an amateur sport there is no funding.

"This would be an amazing opportunity so we are looking for local businesses to sponsor individuals or the group."
