Scarborough’s Covid-19 infection rate remains above the national average after 17 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

The borough’s seven-day infection rate remains at 163 cases per 100,000 people for the second consecutive day.

It means that Scarborough’s is once again above the average for England, which now stands 149.

The average rate for North Yorkshire is 106 and Craven has the second-highest figure in the county at 154.

Today, a mobile testing facility will be at Filey County Park in Filey and at Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site tomorrow.

Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.

Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
