Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate is now at its lowest rate since last September.

The borough’s seven day infection rate per 100,000 people now stands at 52, down four on yesterday.

It is the lowest the figure has reached since September 28, 150 days ago.

At that time Scarborough’s rate was starting to rise and would eventually hit a peak of more than 600 in November.

The borough is now averaging eight new cases every day, confirmed with almost 90 every 24 hours back in November.

The average infection rate in England is now 116 per 100,000 while in North Yorkshire as a whole it is 83.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
