Scarborough averaging 35 new Coronavirus cases daily

The borough's seven-day infection rate is 224 per 100,000 people.

A further 24 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scarborough, in the last 24 hours.

It brings the area's total, since the start of the pandemic, to 4,771.

The borough’s seven day infection rate, per 100,000 people now stands at 224, up one on yesterday's figure.

However, the borough’s rate still remains above its pre-Christmas levels, with an average of 35 new cases being confirmed every day over a seven day period.

Mobile testing sites will be in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week, for people with coronavirus symptoms to get tested.

Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site, at William Street Coach Park, is also offering testing seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.

Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website, at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19.

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
