Three Scarborough Athletic players test positive for coronavirus
The club have suspended all their fixtures for the next 14 days
Scarborough Athletic say three members of their playing squad have tested positive for coronavirus.
There are also a number of other players displaying symptoms and who are awaiting tests or results.
The club have therefore decided to suspend all fixtures for 14 days in line with FA guidelines.
They've cancelled Saturday's FA Trophy fixture against Witton Albion meaning they will forfeit the tie.
Also, the forthcoming league games against Radcliffe and Warrington Town have been postponed.
As things stand, Scarborough Athletic's next match will be the home fixture with Mickleover on Saturday 14th November.
A Scarborough Athletic spokesperson said:
"Our first priority is the health and well-being of our players and staff and through the management team, we have both gathered the facts and kept the players fully informed and advised.
"Given the proximity of the players that have tested positive to the rest of the squad and the fact that other players were feeling unwell, we felt it prudent to suspend our fixtures for 14 days as per the FA and Government guidelines.
"Sadly, we were left with no option than to forfeit our FA Trophy match with Witton Albion as the competition rules only allowed for a postponed match to be played within five days of the original fixture date.
"We are working with the league to rearrange our home fixture with Radcliffe and our trip to Warrington and will issue an update once these dates have been agreed.
"As it stands our next match will be our home fixture with Mickleover on Saturday 14th November.
"Supporters who applied for tickets for the FA Trophy game have been contacted about refunds. Many thanks to those who have donated the cost of the ticket to club funds. This is very much appreciated in these difficult times.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind everybody that anyone displaying symptoms should self-isolate and obtain a Covid-19 test immediately.
"Please also adhere to the “Rule of Six” and follow NHS guidance regarding the washing of hands, wearing of face coverings and observing social distancing. In this way you are keeping yourselves, your family and your community safe."
