Saint Catherine's is set to sell the former day hospice building in Whitby.
Mike Wilkerson, Saint Catherine’s chief executive, said: “Saint Catherine’s has taken the difficult decision to sell the bungalow at Mulgrave Crescent in Whitby. This building was bought to be used as a day care facility in 1995 but has been closed since 2015 following a review of day care services. The building was originally a home and had had some adaptions to enable us to run day care from the building, but should we wish to return to using the facility for clinical purposes that comply with up-to-date requirements, it would require a great deal of investment.
“We have been and are committed to continue delivering our care within the communities of the Whitby area, both in people’s homes and within outpatient clinics, but also supporting patients within our facility in Scarborough for in-patients. Our community nurses, consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, counsellors and social workers continue to support patients in the Whitby area and will continue to do so.
“We are enormously grateful for the continued support of the community in Whitby who generously fundraise for us, taking part in events and supporting our local group and shop. The money you raise continues to help us provide free care locally to patients and their families.”
