People on the Yorkshire Coast are being urged to use 'care and consideration', as all legal covid restrictions are lifted today, although Scarborough and Whitby MP, Robert Goodwill, says it's 'the right time'.

It means wearing face coverings and social distancing are now down to individual choice, rather than a legal requirement.

There are concerns from some, that the move has come amid a rising number of new Coronaviurs cases.

Robert said:

"It is important that we can reap the benefit of the tremendous success of the vaccination programme, which has quite clearly demonstrated that we've broken the link between the disease and hospitalisation and deaths.

"I think we need to live with this disease in the same way we live flu, which in a bad flu year can kill 20,000 people. We don't bring in draconian measures, social distancing and closing of businesses when we have a flu epidemic in the country and I think we've now reached that stage when we can relax."
