A man has appeared in court after a robbery at a bookmakers in Whitby.

It happened at Ladbrokes on New Quay Road just after 4pm last Thursday (7th April) when it is alleged a man walked in, threatened staff and left with cash.

26-year-old Liam Bulmer, who is from Strauss Road in Redcar, did not admit or deny a charge of robbery but indicated a guilty plea for possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance in court next month.
