A threat to kill a staff member was one of the 20 reasons people were banned from East Riding libraries and leisure centres in 2020.

East Riding Council figures show one person was barred from a library for “aggressive and intimidating behaviour” towards a staff member, which included the threat to kill them.

Another was barred for attempting to steal library equipment.

A further four bans were issued all relating to unspecified aggressive and intimidating behaviour towards staff members and also to other customers.

A total of 14 people were banned from East Riding leisure centres, all for antisocial behaviour.

East Riding Council runs a total of 23 libraries across the county, including in Bridlington Library, Bridlington North Library and Flamborough Library.

It also operates a number of mobile libraries and 10 leisure centres.
