Police say they're investigating the death of a nine-year-old boy from Whitby.

Bradley Nelson, who had complex needs, passed away last month.

He was attacked by his dad at his home in Whitby back in 2016 - when he was just seven months old.

He was left severely disabled and unable to walk, talk or feed himself - with Darren Spreadbury being jailed for four years for the assault.

Bradley was brought into hospital in Scarborough last month after falling ill - where he sadly passed away.

A fundraiser for his funeral has raised £3000.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said;

“We have been made aware of the death of a nine-year-old boy from the Whitby area, who sadly passed away in hospital on Tuesday, 22 October.

“The child had complex medical needs and an investigation into the cause of his death is currently under way, reflecting due process in such circumstances.”
