Planning Application Submitted To Rebrand Scarborough Bank

A planning application has been submitted to rebrand one of Scarborough’s banks.

Virgin Money has applied to Scarborough Council put its signs in place of the Yorkshire Bank logo on the premises in Huntriss Row.

The plan, which is now out to consultation, states that the bright red branding will not have an impact on the town’s Conservation Area.

The application states: "The proposed signage is unlikely to have a material impact upon the character of the building or surrounding properties, with the proposed signage adopting a similar palette of colours and construction to existing signage and the associated signage within the neighbouring properties.

“The proposal will not, therefore, look out of place or represent an inappropriate addition. The proposal is, therefore, acceptable in heritage terms within the Conservation Area.”

Virgin Money took over Yorkshire Bank in 2018 and has since been rebranding the banks.

As part of the plan, the bank’s rear entrance in Bar Street will also be fitted with the Virgin Money logo.
