East Riding health bosses on Plan B restrictions
From tomorrow Plan B restrictions will be dropped in England
From tomorrow – Plan B restrictions will be dropped in England – meaning it will no no longer mandatory to wear face masks in shops and COVID passports will no longer be needed.
But East Riding public health bosses say it is still too soon.
Zoe Stevens is a public health nurse consultant at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, she said:
"I think it's it's very early in terms of we're still seeing high numbers across the East Riding, particularly in schools, although our numbers are dropping, overall we're still seeing high transmission rates within other settings, particularly across our primary schools.
"I think if people wish to continue to wear a face mask, that's absolutely fine and still encouraged. I'm sure a lot of people will feel a lot safer knowing that they're protecting others and themselves."
We’ll no longer have to show COVID passports to get into nightclubs and large venues.
Zoe says people should take a lateral flow test before heading out, she added:
"If people have done a lateral flow test and it's negative, we know that the likelihood is they haven't got COVID and therefore the risk of transmission is reduced. So I think it's a really sensible thing to do.
"People should continue doing a lateral flow test if they are attending a social gathering or a place where there's going to be a lot of people, or even if the visiting an elderly relative, it would be wise to do one."
