The East Riding venues which have applied for and received new pavement licences for outdoor ‘al fresco’ style seating areas have been revealed.

East Riding Council records show a total of 11 applications had been lodged by local venues for pavement licences.

Nine of the applications have been granted for venues in Beverley, Bridlington, Goole, Hessle and South Cave, with two from Hedon and Pocklington currently pending.

New pavement licences were introduced last July under the Business and Planning Act in part to help venues reeling from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

They allow licensed venues to put tables and chairs on outside pavements, with councils having the option to include conditions on not obstructing roads and barring smoking.

Councils can also put expiry dates on licences, with an end date of Thursday, September 30 for those local authorities decide not to specify a duration for.

The act also temporarily changed licensing rules to allow venues to sell alcohol for off premises consumption before 11pm.

The East Riding venues granted pavement licences:

  • 42nd East Bakehouse, North Bar Within, Beverley
  • Shammy’s Bar, Saturday Market, Beverley
  • 3 B’s, Marshall Avenue, Bridlington
  • Bridlington Spa, S Marine Drive, Bridlington
  • Bridbrew and Taproom, King Street, Bridlington
  • Dog House, King Street, Bridlington
  • City and Country, Market Square, Goole
  • Villa Natura, Prestongate, Hessle
  • West End Cafe, West End, South Cave
