East Riding of Yorkshire Council says bookings can be made two days in advance for East Riding Leisure members, and one day in advance for non-members. The classes on offer and availability will vary from site to site. Spaces will be limited. Classes may be cancelled due to poor weather for safety reasons, but the aim is to continue with classes whenever possible.
Customers should come class-ready and bring their own exercise mat if required. No outdoor classes will take place during the Easter Bank Holidays.
Customers can be assured that COVID secure procedures are still in place for the outdoor classes – details can be found at https://eastridingleisure.co.uk/reopening/
East Riding Leisure indoor facilities will not reopen until Monday, 12 April, in line with the Government roadmap.
Councillor Shaun Horton, portfolio holder for coastal regeneration and tourism, including leisure and culture, said:
“The launch of these outdoor classes is wonderful news! We know that exercising outdoors reduces the transmission of COVID-19, and that outdoor workouts are in fact more challenging, because your body has to work harder with the natural elements, so you burn more calories and improve your balance and core skills.
“Being outdoors provides essential Vitamin D, helping to maintain healthy bones, teeth and muscles, and of course fresh air and natural light is invigorating!”
