A single new coronavirus case has been recorded in Scarborough overnight.
Figures released yesterday show that one case was added to the borough’s total.
Though recorded yesterday the positive test was given on Tuesday.
It follows three cases that were recorded on bank holiday Monday with the two other cases coming back positive on Thursday last week.
These new cases bring the borough’s total since the start of the pandemic to 570.
The data includes tests carried out in hospitals and also Pillar 2 tests, which is anyone tested at one of the mobile sites in the borough or sent a test to take at home.
The new cases have seen Scarborough’s seven-day infection rate increase further from 0.7 to 0.9, just under one new case a day.
The news comes after three businesses in the borough closed this week due to coronavirus.
The Halifax branch in Scarborough town centre was shut on Tuesday with a note on the door saying an “employee or customer” had been affected by the virus.
Meanwhile, the Hare and Hounds pub in Hawkser, near Whitby, has also been forced to close its doors after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
Whitby-based bakery Botham’s also had to shut one of its stores after staff came into contact with someone who later tested positive for Covid-19.
