Now it may be Monday morning, but this might put a smile on your face.............a Scarborough man's wondering if has the longest working lightbulb anywhere.

35 year-old Benjamin Schofield, from North Marine Road, bought it in 2001, before he joined the Army.

It lasted throughout his 5 years' service and so he brought it home.

It is still in use, despite another one he bought at the same time getting smashed a few months ago.

Ben's considering giving it a name and celebrating its 20th birthday next January.

He said:

"You do become emotionally attached to things. People do say 'Ben, it's just a lightbulb.' It is just a lightbulb, but I've seen that lightbulb every day, for the last 19 years of my life. It's been good to me.

I did think a couple of years ago, maybe I should preserve him - retire him a little bit. But as time has gone on, I've realised that's not what he'd have wanted. He'll want to live out his life, in the corridor, until he naturally blows.

I've already been planning what I could do for a lightbulb-themed birthday party. It's still in the early stages and I've got a couple of ideas. I won't be letting the occasion just pass by and judging by the way I celebrate my dog's birthday, the party will be awesome."
