North Yorkshire County Council says it will be business as usual for its front line staff if its devolution deal goes through.
It is reassuring residents that local services will still be there if the area were to become a single-unitary authority.
That is the proposal they are looking to put forward to the government.which they claim will be better for residents.
Gareth Dadd, Deputy Leader of North Yorkshire County Council, said:
"A lot of the frontline staff certainly in the county and district councils will continue.
Let's not forget bins still need emptying, leisure centres still need running and elderly still need looking after.
It'll be a new authority with new members. North Yorkshire County Council, should these proposals transpire, will be abolished as will the district councils.
Staff will be TUPE'd across and it will be business as usual on the front line."
