Family pay tribute to "wonderful son" who died in North Yorkshire crash

North Yorkshire Police have confirmed a motorcyclist who died in a crash near to Selby in July was a serving officer with the force.

Patrick Casey, from Hull, was involved in a crash with two cars on Sunday 18 July on the B1222 between Sherburn in Elmet and Cawood.

His family have paid tribute to him, saying he died doing one of his "greatest loves" and would ride his motorcycle whenever he got the chance.

In a statement, they said: “Pat was an absolutely wonderful son and brother. The middle child of three, he was our rock, like a best friend."

“We were, and always will be, incredibly proud of him."

Casey worked with the policing team in Scarborough, and "regularly" spoke about getting onto the North Yorkshire force after 10 years in the army.

Major Collision Investigator Laura Cleary of North Yorkshire Police said:

“This was a tragic incident which has taken the life of a motorcyclist and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this incredibly sad time.

“Our investigation remains ongoing as we work to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.
