North Yorkshire's farms to open for annual charity event
Farmers hosting family open day to learn about the industry

Farmers across North Yorkshire are inviting the public onto their farms today (Sunday, June 6) to learn more about the industry as part of a national charity event.
Families across the UK can visit participating farms to learn more about the industry and the countryside, whilst giving farmers the chance to talk about their pride in their work.
Open Farm Sunday, hosted annually by the charity LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), offers visitors a range of activities including tractor rides, nature walks and demonstrations.
David and Sheena Peach own Rock House Farm in Bedale which has been taking part in the event for the past seven years and have explained what the event means to them.
David said: "The event gives us the chance for up to 300 farmers in the country to open up our farm gates to the public.
"It gives people the chance to see what happens behind the scenes on lots of different farms. From livestock farms, to agricultural and to mixed farms.
"We've been involved for the last seven years. We're really passionate about sharing our farming story with people, and sharing what we do here with people who don't get to go on farms and have a look."
Sheena said: "It's about educating and sharing with people. Farming can have quite a closed reputation and we feel as a family, its about opening up about what we do and how we do it.
"We like to show the farm in it's entirety and this really helps the public to understand some of the processes."
