More volunteers needed at North Yorkshire Citizens Advice after surge in cost of living calls
There's been a spike in people asking for help due to the energy price cap increasing earlier this month
Citizens Advice across North Yorkshire are looking for more volunteers amidst a surge in calls to do with the cost of living.
It's after we told you there's a been spike in people asking for help due to the energy price cap increasing earlier this month.
Laura Doherty is the Head of Energy and Poverty Prevention at Citizens Advice Mid-North Yorkshire.
She said: "We have volunteer advisors, so if you rang us on the phone or you came to one our drop-ins, it might be a volunteer who you see and they go through a training programme to enable them to give complete advice on all issues. We have admin volunteers, mobile advice vans, where we have volunteers to go out as well.
"If you're thinking about volunteering then just get in touch. It may be that there's something we can use you for, or the skills you already have, so we're happy to talk through with anyone who might want to get in touch for volunteering.
"It's great work experience and so rewarding. I'd really recommend it. Usually we ask for about a day or two across the week but the best thing to do is to give us a call and we may be able to work it around other commitments depending on what roles people are interested in."
