NHS services in North Yorkshire are 'safe and open for business' for non-Covid illnesses, that's the message from local leaders today.

A meeting of the county's Local Resilience Forum has heard from the local Clinical Commissioning Group, who are urging people to seek medical help for any symptoms they're worried about.

They also say some services which were stopped at the start of the pandemic are now back up and running again.

Amanda Bloor from North Yorkshire CCG said:

"I think the message I want to give out is that the NHS, across accident and emergency, primary care and screening services is open for business and it's safe to attend.

"The NHS across the board is operating in a way that means patients and staff are kept as safe and as protected as possible from any risk of catching Covid in a healthcare setting.

"They were some services that weren't running during the initial stage of the pandemic, but all services are now open. If anybody receives an appointment for breast screening or any other type of screening they should attend those appointments."
