New petition started to 'Save Bridlington Hospital'
It's been created by resident Jayne Phoenix who's taken over the running of the campaign
The fight to 'Save Bridlington Hospital' continues as a new petition gets underway to bring back services to the town.
It has been created by resident Jayne Phoenix who has taken over the running of the campaign from Mick Pilling, who signalled some time ago that due to ill-health, he needed to hand over the campaign.
Mick said:
“I am happy to hand over the campaign to Jayne. The Liberal Democrats have raised concerns and campaigned against the run-down of our hospital. The Conservatives have done nothing locally or nationally to save the hospital, although they have had over 10 years in power."
Jayne moved from Sheffield to Bridlington in May last year. she said:
"We all owe Mick a huge debt for his efforts over many years to fight for a decent hospital service in Bridlington. I am pleased to carry the fight on in his footsteps. I can’t guarantee we will win but I will try my best. With the support of Lib Dem Cllr Mike Heslop-Mullens, we will continue to fight for services that the people of Bridlington actually need – not just those that York and Scarborough NHS Hospital Trust decides will fit into its plan.
"Residents want a proper hospital on their door-step. A recent independent survey received over 1,000 replies saying keep the hospital and bring more services back. Bridlington Hospital deserves investment. If it can be done in York, Malton, Whitby and Scarborough, then Bridlington Hospital deserves more than a lick of paint.”
